Family fun

We were extremely fortunate this summer in that we had two visits from my side of the family. Grandpa and Grandma Welch came to visit in June and then Uncle Todd and Aunt Jenny (Cole pronounces Jenny just as Forest Gump would say it) came to visit in July. It was fun to see Cole get to know his grandparents again. He played his usual shy self for the first 20 minutes then he was ready to get in there and have some fun.

My parents went with us to the Impression 5 museum and we got to make slime!! Explore the wonders of light, music waves, physics and real cool geek stuff as Amanda would accuse me of.
I can't tell who is having more fun Grandpa or Cole.
Round and round the marbles go, we spent 20 minutes with this toy before the girls got bored and pulled us along to the bubble room.

We took an afternoon and went to the dairy store on campus and got some unique flavors of ice cream. Then we wandered over to the gardens on campus and played around and ate our ice cream before it melted. Grandpa got Grandma to stand in the range of the pond water spitting toad without her knowing and that was a good laugh for Cole.

Todd and Jenny went to a minor league baseball game, our local Lansing lugnuts pulled out the win and we were treated to a surprisingly good fireworks show afterwards. It was funny they were announcing that the fireworks were going to be right after the game and I figured that they were just exaggerating as they wanted to clear out the area they shoot out the fireworks from. The teams had barely left the field after the game and they killed the lights and let off this big boom firework that had no light so we were all surprised and startled to get things started off.

We went water skiing and had a blast, we did not have our camera with us that day but Todd and Jenny did so check their blog for those photos. I got up on two ski's my first try not bad for my first time skiing, after seeing Todd get several mouthfuls of water trying to get up on 1 ski I figured two was the way to go. Although watching Todd zip around on 1 was enough to make want to try it next time. Everyone got up and had a lot of fun and we can't thank Grandpa Hover enough for pulling us around the lake all afternoon. Cole jumped in for a quick swim with Grandma Hover, he was not too sure about it though. We have had some cool weather recently and dropped the lake temperature a few degrees.

The latest Harry Potter movie had just come out to theater's and we went to see it at the Imax with 20 minutes of 3D and that was very cool. I am not sure I can ever go back to a normal movie screen after that!

We can't thank you all enough for taking the time to come visit us and make our summer a blast and we cant wait to see you all this Christmas.
